We’ll contact a site using every option available to us, including email, phone and live chat. If we don’t receive assistance that is genuinely helpful and honest, we certainly won’t make a recommendation.

Bonuses and promotions

It goes without saying that the best sites offer big bonuses, however we look deeper. We also want to see that the terms are fair, to ensure you’ve got the best chance possible of winning money.

Payment options

We always want to see that an online sportsbook has plenty of ways to both deposit and withdraw. This should include VISA, MasterCard and e-wallets. Zero or minimal fees are also desired.

An Introduction to Tennis Betting

The All India Tennis Association (AITA), founded in 1920, shows just how long Tennis has been a part of Indian life. Betting on tennis has become a popular pastime in the last few years, with Indian fans taking to online betting sites to bag a quick win. To take part in tennis betting, you’ll first need to understand the rules. For those who don’t, take a look at our breakdown of tennis below.

  1. Tennis matches feature two individuals, or two teams of two players (which is called doubles).
  2. The match is broken up into 3 or 5 sets - the first player to win 2 or 3 sets is declared the winner.
  3. Sets are comprised of games. The first player to win 6 games is the winner of the set, providing they’ve also won by a clear 2 games.
  4. To win a game, a player must score 4 points. The scoring works like this: 15, 30, 40, game. A game at 40-40 goes into deuce.
  5. Deuce is won by the first player to obtain advantage, and then manage to convert the next point played.
  6. One player serves for an entire game. The opponent will then serve for the next game. Servers have a huge advantage over receivers.
  7. To score a point, the opponent must fail to return a ball, or they must hit the ball into the net.

How Tennis Betting Odds Work

Understanding tennis odds can seem confusing at first, but there’s no need to worry as both decimal and fractional odds are really easy to understand once explained. Moneyline odds, however, are slightly more complex, but as they’re only really used in the United States, we’ll stick to explaining what’ll be most relevant. Take a look at the example below.

Novak Djokovic: 1.50 (1/2)Rafael Nadal: 2.10 (11/10)

Above you can see, both decimal and fractional odds for a matchup between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

The lower the decimal or the fraction, the more likely the betting site thinks the player is to win. So, in this example, Djokovic is the favourite to win, but only just.

Let’s say you bet 100 rupees on Djokovic. Just take that 100 rupees and multiply them by the decimal. This will show you how much you should win. So, a 100-rupee bet on Djokovic would lead to a payout of 150 rupees.

Fractional odds are slightly harder. To start, divide the first number by the second number. You then multiply the result by the stake. Unlike with decimal odds, you then need to add the original stake to the resulting number.

So, using Nadal’s odds of 11/10 and a bet of 100 rupees, you’d start by dividing 11 by 10, which equals 1.1. Then multiply 1.1 by the stake, giving you 110 rupees. You then add the 100-rupee bet, giving a total payout of 210 rupees.

We’d always recommend using decimal odds when placing a bet. Some sites will provide this option automatically, however you may have to manually change the odds format over to decimal at some online sportsbooks.

How to Bet on Tennis

There are so many ways to bet on tennis, and a huge number of markets for online gamblers to choose from, especially during the major tournaments. Below are some of the best tennis bets you can make, plus a few of our top tennis betting strategy tips to get you started.

Match betting - When you bet on the player you think will win a match. This is the simplest form of tennis betting you’ll find.

Handicap betting - Giving a player a handicap means disadvantaging them in some way. So, for example, the stronger player might be deducted a set, therefore evening out the chances of either player winning.

Over/under betting - You’ll be betting on whether there are more or less games (sometimes sets) than the sports betting site has predicted.

Correct score - You’ll need to predict what the final score in sets will be. This can be difficult, but often offers some great odds.

Prop betting - Betting on whether something specific will happen throughout the match, like a set being won via a tiebreak.

Accumulator betting - When you roll two or more bets into one, such as Djokovic winning and being victorious 3-1. Both bets must be good in order to receive a payout.
